Scouts BSA Troop 35

Boy Troop & Girl Troop

Invite You to Join the Adventure!

in Laguna Beach, California!

Boys and Girls can join Scouts BSA at age 11 or in the spring of their 5th grade year. They continue in Scouting up until age 18, when they can become adult volunteers. Your son or daughter will join one of our age and grade-based patrol groups in our Boy Troop 35, (est. 1945) or in the newly chartered Girl Troop 35  (est. 2019). If your scout is older than 11, ask us about which "patrol" they should join.

Register Today!

SCOUTS: If your son or daughter is new to Scouting, you'll need to fill out a Youth Application (click this link to download one) or you can go to the Scout Forms page.    OR fill out an on line application:  https://beascout.scouting.org/list/?zip=92651&program%5B0%5D=pack&program%5B1%5D=scoutsBSA&cubFilter=all&scoutsBSAFilter=all&miles=10#    Select either the Boy Troop or the Girl Troop and follow the instructions in the one line application program.

ADULTS: Men and women are welcome to volunteer.  If you'll be serving as a volunteer, you'll need to complete Youth Protection Training before you submit the adult application.  The training is done on line and should take about 2 hours. It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America to maintain a culture of Youth Protection awareness and safety at the national, regional, area, council, district, and unit levels.   Please go to the menu on this website and click on Adult Membership and Youth Protection Training for information about how to become an adult volunteer.  Click here for an Adult Application  or you can go to the Scout Forms page.   Once an adult is registered, the adult may take additional training courses to be designated as a trained leader or as an assistant scoutmaster or scoutmaster.

ANNUAL DUES:  The dues amount for 2020 for youth is $250 (prorated depending on month joined) and the adults dues amount is $50.    The youth dues covers the national and local registration and insurance fees noted on the Scouts BSA application as well as the program costs for our troop.  The adult dues is for national fees, insurance and a background check.    National Scouts BSA has a one time joining fee for youth of $25.   Each Troop has a new youth member package of troop items that costs $115 to cover the cost of a troop duffle bag, T-shirt, neckerchief and slide and Scouts BSA handbook.    The Troop will collect the dues. New members and new adult volunteers have an option to pay these amounts via Pay Pal through our website, check or cash.   We do have scholarships available through our troop or council if a family needs financial assistance.   We do not want financial concerns to prevent a youth member from joining Scouts BSA.

Join Today! Join us for an outstanding 2020-21 program.   We follow all recommendations for Covid restrictions for small group meetings.  New members can join at anytime.

Adults interested in volunteering?   Click here to login and take Youth Protection training .
Before you can become an adult volunteer, you must take Youth Protection Training.  Instructions on how to start the on line training are on the training page.

A New Chartered Organization for Troop 35 B and G and Pack 35.

Posted on Dec 5 2021 - 12:04am
Laguna Beach Post 5868 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be the new Chartered Organization for Troop 35 B and G and Pack 35 starting in 2022.     The Session at Laguna Presbyterian Church declined to continue to charter us given the concerns various national religious organizations have in regard to litigation involving Scouts BSA.   The Church will continue to allow us to use the church facilities without any charge so nothing changes in our meeting place.

Youth Protection Training must have an expiration date of 2023

Posted on Nov 28 2021 - 9:13am

If you are a registered adult leader, you must take Youth Protection Training within the next week - - - unless you already took the course earlier in 2021.    OCBSA requires all adults to have youth protection training with an expiration date of sometime in 2023 to be registered for the calendar year 2022.  This is a new requirement.   Please take the time to be in compliance with this important requirement.    ALSO, strongly suggest you use the Firefox browser.   Chrome browser have been causing some problems for some taking the class using that browser.    Go to your my.scouting.com account and click on Youth Protection Training.

Only 20% of youth and adults have paid the 2022 dues

Posted on Nov 27 2021 - 10:27pm

I have extended the deadline for paying dues to December 6.    Youth Dues are $250 and adult Dues are $50 ($60 if you do not want the subsidy from the youth dues.)  If you are not sure if you paid for 2022 or you want an address to which you can send a check or to pay by venmo, please send me an email message and I will get that information to you.    Online payments buttons in our website menu will pay via paypal.  They do include an additional fee for using pay pal.  THANK YOU!  Pam Jensen, Troop Committee Chair

ROUNDTABLE meeting at Laguna Presbyterian Church Thurs Nov 11

Posted on Nov 6 2021 - 10:22pm

Our chartered organization will be hosting the monthly Roundtable meeting on Thursday Nov 11 at 7pm (THAT IS THIS UPCOMING WEEK!)  This meeting is open to all parents and registered adult leaders.   Troop Senior Patrol Leaders are invited to attend and some of our youth members will be there to help with the flag ceremony.  Other than those youth members, this is a meeting for parents and adult leaders.    At this monthly meeting, adult leaders from Scouts BSA, Cub Scout and Venturing Crews meet to discuss district wide programs and issues.   We have special breakout sessions for Scouts BSA and Cub Scouts.

Paperwork and payments time!

Posted on Nov 6 2021 - 10:15pm

We are in the month of registering all youth and adults for the 2022 calendar year.  Youth dues are $250 per youth member.    Registered adult dues are $50 (with subsidy from youth dues or $60 if you pay the amount charged by OCBSA plus admin fee) plus YPT certificate that has expiration date in 2023.    Pay via check at a meeting (Payable to Troop 35); Venmo (contact Pam Jensen for procedure) or PayPal buttons on our website (includes fee.)    Let me know if you have any questions.   Pam Jensen Troop Committee Chair

Day/Weekend of Service Nov 6,7

Posted on Nov 6 2021 - 10:11pm

We are in the middle of our Weekend of Service.   I hope each scout has a service project this weekend.   I know some scouts will be helping a senior citizen in our community with cleaning up her yard to prepare for her grandchildren to visit over the upcoming holidays.   I know other youth collected canned goods on Saturday.  Remember to email me a brief description of what you did and photos if possible.   We will give a report at Roundtable Meeting on Thursday, Nov 12.   Yours in Service = Pam Jensen, Troop Committee Chair
